Frost Elementary School’s Verna Berry is the 2012 Assistant Principal of the Year for Region 4
February 22, 2012
Frost Elementary School’s Verna Berry is the 2012 Assistant Principal of the Year for Region 4.
Frost Elementary School’s Verna Berry is the 2012 Assistant Principal of the Year for Region 4. She is now in the running for the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association’s Assistant Principal of the Year, which is awarded in June.
“She leads by example in every endeavor and consistently goes the extra mile for kids,” Frost Principal Shannon Hood wrote in her nomination letter. “Verna utilizes an open door policy and is always available to assist teachers and children. It is an honor and pleasure to work with such a passionate educator who is committed to meeting the needs of all children.”
Berry’s work is not just noticed by her supervisors.
“Last week our cafeteria monitor was out sick,” Frost teacher Amelia De Lane wrote. “I saw Verna grabbing a rag and helping to wipe down lunch tables. No task is too menial for her attention. She gets the job done and is a team player in every facet no matter what it involves.”
Region 4 covers the greater Houston area and includes more than 800 elementary schools.
Verna has been at Frost Elementary since it opened in 2000. This is her fourth year as the Assistant Principal. Prior to entering administration, she served as Science Facilitator, fifth-grade teacher and second-grade teacher.
